TNSSA State Meet Coimbatore - Oct'24

Even though we lowered our expectations based on the last competition, Kevin's performance was too good during practice sessions in Nehru Stadium so we didn't rule out the chances of losing miserably.Also we didn't have much hope for Adele because she ended the District meet without any podium finishDay 1 - 200m Adele Adele's 200m qualifier Adele finished comfortably at second positionFinal Race of 200m most of her peers from her district were her competitors in this race as well. Her race was too dramatic, she was in last position 75% of her race and gained second position at the last turn. We were soo excited she won as we didnt have hopes till last 2 seconds of her race.Meanwhile Kevin was not in 200m race as we selected only 400m and 1000m for him. We watched the 200m of Kevin's peers and it looked very competitiveDay 2 - 1000m Kevin Before the race, even Kevin wasn't looking positive and this race was conducted as mass start and no heats were there. Kevin started 8th position after start and overtook his district competitors in the first lap itself and looked commanding for the entire race. He won Gold and gathered the much needed confidence.Day 3 - 400m Adele Since Adele and Kevin were using the same shoes,both were part of 400m event but we the initial plan suggested that Boy's events will be completed first and then the Girl's event will be conducted. But since there was a delay due to rain the previous day the previous day's events were stacked and delayed by around 3-4 hours.Both of them were asked to report simultaneously and their shoes were juggled in between their races.Adele's 400m race she comfortably finished 2nd position in her finals.Day 3 - 400m Kevin Kevin's 400m race had 5 Heats.Kevin Finished first in his heat and comfortably finished first. He raised our expectations againThe semifinals race was very competitive and we saw the best of Kevin. As usual he is a weak starter but during the race he had his momentum and clocked his best of 30seconds each lap and also came to first position.In the finals, we had the top skaters competing, so everyone had to be at their best. Unfortunately, he struggled with his start and made a few mistakes on the turns, which led him to finish in 5th place, but not by a large gap.Since he finished 5th he didnt get any medal and he was so disappointed on it, but we were so happy that he cam so far from what he was in VKP competition.He certainly stepped up to the challenge and established a name for himself.
